  • If you haven’t done so already, please submit your name and headshot for the Playbill using this formtoday.

Board Elections

Hello HSC!

As noted in previous newsletters, Board elections will occur during rehearsal on Monday, May 18th, and nominations are open from through Monday, May 11th.

You can nominate as many people as you deem fit for a position, and you can nominate yourself!

Please use this form to submit nominations.

Below is a general timeline of the important election dates:

  • April 25 - Nomination form opened

  • May 11 - Nomination period closes

  • May 18 - Election Speeches and Voting during rehearsal

  • May 23 - Announcement of new board in newsletter

  • May 27 - Live announcement of new board

  • June 11 - New Board Member “Sit-In” Meeting (Will probably be moved due to show week)

  • July 09 - Tentative 1st Board Meeting for newly elected board members

After the nomination period closes, Genevieve or Chasity will reach out to each nominee to let them know of their nomination and see if they wish to move forward with the process. All candidates will also need to speak with the person currently holding the open position to ensure that there is a complete understanding of the skills required, time commitment involved, and general responsibilities of holding a Board position. This will be a great time to ask any clarifying questions to determine if you wish to be placed on the ballot.

For any questions, please contact Genevieve via email at President@HoustonShowChoir.org.

Thank you!

Your 2026 Election Committee

Artistic Director’s Digest

Hi all!

Ahh, we are officially one month away from the show! We’re in a really good place, but extra review never hurts. Please make sure you are checking the rehearsal schedule and coming prepared on all material. At this point, music and choreo should be close to memorized so that show week feels exciting instead of stressful.

Our choreographers will also be holding extra dance practices, so keep an eye out for those dates and attend when you can. They’ll be super helpful for building confidence and cleaning things up.

Tea & Treats

Bring some tea and treats this Monday so we can have a little fellowship time together! I’ll bring some teas. If you’d like to donate water, tea, treats, or paper goods, please post in the Facebook group or send me an email so we can keep track of what we have covered.

Deep in the Heart

Here’s the link to the track. You can also find the PPDs in the regular “PPDs by Section” folders.

I added a couple of extra measures, but they’re easy peasy!

Also, I am out of town this weekend for a family wedding, so if you need me please send an email and be patient with my replies.

Thank you all for the music, the hard work, and the energy you continue to bring each week. See you next week!

Jennifer

Dream BIG with the Executive Directors!

Hello and a merry month of May to you, Choirmates!

Speaking of “month”, we are now just about ONE MONTH from SHOWTIME!

Is that exciting or what?!

Adding to that excitement, we begin rehearsing on our RISERS this coming Monday! We will rehearse mainly in the Activities Building for the rest of the season.

Please know that there is something for everyone to do, and the sooner we set the risers up, the sooner we can start rehearsal—so please arrive as early as you possibly can to help with the risers. We will start by 5:45 PM. Then of course, please stay as late as you can to dismantle them. Thank you in advance for your generous participation in this important part of our work together!

As of this writing, ticket sales have eked up to 117. The nearer we draw to show time, the more we need to promote the show! Imagine the thrill of seeing 500 beaming faces in the audience at Zilkha Hall!

We are using all our media channels to promote the show; however, there is nothing more effective than a personal invitation from you as a performer in this show! So let's get out there and tell the world about it!

  1. “Like” and share every social media post about Houston Show Choir on your own profile.

  2. Personally invite your family and friends to come see you in the show.

  3. Show off your HSC swag whenever and wherever possible. It’s a conversation starter!

  4. Practice on your own, and envision that full house at Hobby Center cheering for us on June 13.

  5. Make it easy for your fans to buy tickets by sharing the Hobby Center ticketing page with them.

Thank you for your beautiful part in this choir, for making this show a rousing success, and for furthering our vision of...

Sharing the joy,

Mark & Van

From Texas, With Love Tickets now on sale!

Abi, our Director of Marketing, has prepared this lovely official flyer to share on your social media. We encourage you to post at least once a month leading up to the show. So there isn’t an influx of posting, Abi recommends posting on the following days:

  • Baritones post on Monday/Tuesday

  • Altos post on Wednesday/Thursday

  • Sopranos post on Friday/Saturday

When you post be sure to include the LINK to buy tickets—the less work someone has to do when there is a call to action, the more likely they are to complete the action. Please reach out to Abi if you have any questions!

Pro-tip from Abi: Word of mouth and direct invites go a loooooong way. Text this to your friends and family with a heartfelt invite with a link.
