Member To-Dos
If you have not already done so, please fill out this form ASAP indicating your availability before or after rehearsal to help with riser setup and dismantling. This is a very big job, and we are going to need as many members as possible to participate. There is something to do for all levels of strength and skill. The more help we have, the faster it will go.
If you know anyone who may be interested in purchasing a Playbill ad, please see the “Spring 2026 Playbill Advertisements” section below for a flyer with additional details. The commitment deadline is this Thursday, May 07, and the ad creative deadline is Thursday, May 14.
All HSC members, please submit your name and headshot using this form for the Playbill by next Saturday, May 09. The form includes an option for members who participated in the 2025 Fall season to use the same headshot from last season.
If you would like to nominate someone to the Houston Show Choir board, please fill out this form by Monday, May 11.

Board Elections
Hello HSC!
As noted in previous newsletters, Board elections will occur during rehearsal on Monday, May 18th, and nominations will be open from Saturday, April 25th through Monday, May 11th.
You can nominate as many people as you deem fit for a position, and you can nominate yourself!
Please use this form to submit nominations.
Below is a general timeline of the important election dates:
April 25 - Nomination form opened
May 11 - Nomination period closes
May 18 - Election Speeches and Voting during rehearsal
May 23 - Announcement of new board in newsletter
May 27 - Live announcement of new board
June 11 - New Board Member “Sit-In” Meeting (Will probably be moved due to show week)
July 09 - Tentative 1st Board Meeting for newly elected board members
After the nomination period closes, Genevieve or Chasity will reach out to each nominee to let them know of their nomination and see if they wish to move forward with the process. All candidates will also need to speak with the person currently holding the open position to ensure that there is a complete understanding of the skills required, time commitment involved, and general responsibilities of holding a Board position. This will be a great time to ask any clarifying questions to determine if you wish to be placed on the ballot.
For any questions, please contact Genevieve via email at President@HoustonShowChoir.org.
Thank you!

Artistic Director’s Digest
Hello all!
I hope you all had a wonderful week. We are just a little less than a month from our workshop on June 1st. We will be workshopping the following pieces. There may be a change depending on our time allowance but please make sure you prepared vocally and on your choreo:
Texas Hold Em
Dreaming of You
Always on My Mind
Barso Re
Absences
Some of you all have used nearly all of your absence allotment. If this is you, you should have received some communication from me. It is important that everyone is at rehearsal because we are only as good as our weakest performer. The best rehearsal tool you have is to be at rehearsal. Of course life happens so if you are missing rehearsal please be sure to practice the music. It will not be as helpful as a rehearsal but it is something! Starting June 1st, I do expect everyone to be at the performance level we are known for. Our audience deserves the best show we can give them so let’s be sure to do that! Cause these tickets ain’t cheap!
Deep in the Heart of Texas
I will post the link to parts on facebook sometime next week. My plan was to post it today but I may still make changes so I’m holding off.
Thank you for the work you do!
Jennifer
Dream BIG with the Executive Directors!
Choirmates!
It's the merry, merry month of May! And we're just SIX WEEKS away from showtime! In a sense, that feels like a short time; however, if you break it down into the number of rehearsals, it seems longer. Just know this: We're in a good place. We are dedicated, driven, and determined. We love what we're doing and we are stars! How exciting to share this beautiful show with our friends and family next month!
We are using all our media channels to promote the show; however, there is nothing more effective than a personal invitation from you as a performer in this show! So let's get out there and tell the world about it!
“Like” and share every social media post about Houston Show Choir on your own profile.
Personally invite your family and friends to come see you in the show.
Show off your HSC swag whenever and wherever possible. It’s a conversation starter!
Practice on your own, and envision that full house at Hobby Center cheering for us on June 13.
Make it easy for your fans to buy tickets by sharing the Hobby Center ticketing page with them.
Thank you for your beautiful part in this choir, for making this show a rousing success, and for furthering our vision of...
Sharing the joy,
Mark & Van
From Texas, With Love Tickets now on sale!
Abi, our Director of Marketing, has prepared this lovely official flyer to share on your social media. We encourage you to post at least once a month leading up to the show. So there isn’t an influx of posting, Abi recommends posting on the following days:
Baritones post on Monday/Tuesday
Altos post on Wednesday/Thursday
Sopranos post on Friday/Saturday
When you post be sure to include the LINK to buy tickets—the less work someone has to do when there is a call to action, the more likely they are to complete the action. Please reach out to Abi if you have any questions!
Pro-tip from Abi: Word of mouth and direct invites go a loooooong way. Text this to your friends and family with a heartfelt invite with a link.

When you are going to be absent, you need to notify your Section Leader and Artistic Director.
Also note that you are marked Tardy if you join rehearsal after 6:45PM, regardless of the reason.
After your 3rd Absence you may be asked to test your knowledge of the music and/or choreography.
