We’re excited to once again partner with Triple Crown Bingo in Humble, HSC’s biggest and most generous sponsor. This is an important annual event for us, and as always, it’s the only thing they ask us to do in return for their incredible support.
If you are one of the members who generously signed up to perform at this gig, will only be singing the Star-Spangled Banner, so it will be a short but meaningful appearance and a great way for us to show our appreciation together as a group.
This performance will take place on Friday, July 03 at 7:30pm, at Triple Crown Bingo Humble (210 W First St, Humble, TX, 77338).

Returning members do not need to complete a vocal audition unless you would like to audition into HTS/TIP.
Additional details will be provided in a future newsletter.

Dream BIG with the Executive Directors!
Hey there, Choirmates!
Just think: One week ago at this time, we were all a-flurry readying ourselves for Show Day. Showers and shaves, hair curlers curling, costumes freshening, nails and shoes being polished, the strains of our repertoire spinning in our heads, choreo moves flying from our hands and feet, mad dashes to beat the World Cup traffic downtown as we trekked to the Hobby Center. Nerves wracking, hearts racing, brains focusing as we ran through everything once more before clearing the house and waiting for curtains up. Exciting, wasn't it?!
Places on the risers. The first notes of "Deep in the Heart of Texas" rose from the pit and the stage filled with our voices, wafting out into Zilkha Hall. And then came the applause: Every performer's ultimate compensation; the thrill and delight of having thrilled and delighted. The repertoire as it moves along becomes a conversation with the audience. They're getting what they came for and so are we. It's a reciprocal gift, an exchange of love.
In seemingly no time, we took our bows. We met our grateful, gracious public in the lobby. We cleaned our dressing rooms, loaded our cars, and celebrated over signature cocktails and delicious repast with our fans at Birraporetti's. Sweet goodbyes, see-ya-next-times, congratulations, returning home and perhaps lying in bed wondering, "What now?"
For just shy of 20 of us, it was a quick turnaround to fly to Orlando for a few days of relaxing vacation and childlike frolic at Universal Studios, which is winding down. For those, there will likely come another pondering of what's next to come.
For your board of directors and your artistic and administrative teams, there will be backstage work preparing for auditions, holding meetings and retreats, preparing for the fall season. For those who can, there will be a performance of our national anthem on July 3 at Triple Crown Bingo, our largest sponsor. For others, there will be returning to the routines of work and home life, perhaps more vacations, and inevitably, some more wondering.
This hiatus, this "downtime", has a lovely adjective to sum it up: LIMINAL. This beautiful word describes an in-between state, place, or phase of transition. It comes from the Latin word limen, meaning "threshold". It represents the ambiguous, undefined zone between where something ends and something new begins. How accurate is that?!
Use this liminal time to rest, restore, relax, and remember. Remember "why we sing" and look forward with your pure imagination to the fall season of Houston Show Choir in our 94th year. We certainly hope you're planning to return! And please invite any talented singer-dancers you know to auditions the first week of August. Because there's nothing, nothing at all like...
Sharing the joy,
Mark & Van
