Named by Houston Press as “Best Choir in Houston” for 2023, Houston Show Choir announces its search for a new Artistic Director. This is a part-time position whose targeted hiring date is May 2024, with an official start date in July 2024. The new Artistic Director’s first season will commence with auditions in late July / early August 2024.

Chartered in 1932 by the City of Houston and subsequently operating under several different names, Greater Houston Chorus, dba Houston Show Choir currently comprises more than 80 performers who sing and dance in three adult choirs and three a cappella groups; all are auditioned volunteers. This diverse choir ranges in age from late teens to late sixties; in experience from amateur to professional; in demographics from all over the metroplex and representing a broad array of race, ethnicity, heritage, sexuality, and life experience. One portion of the choir rehearses on Monday evenings, the other on Wednesday evenings. The spring season runs from January to June and the fall season runs from August to December. In addition to ticketed end-of-season shows, Houston Show Choir is often booked to entertain at a variety of events large and small, indoors and out, public and private, formal and casual. Houston Show Choir usually performs with our own pianist or a hired substitute, or a cappella.  HSC's repertoire encompasses many genres, from pop to jazz to rock to country to movie themes and show tunes, all performed with dynamic vocals and choreography.

In summary, the Artistic Director oversees, manages, and makes decisions regarding all artistic elements and activities of Houston Show Choir while supporting, exemplifying, and promoting its mission: To share the joy of music through performance, education. and service to communities within the Greater Houston area and beyond.
