Updated Member Resources

  • Choreo videos for "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" have now been added to the Song Matrix and choreo playlists. You can also access them by following these direct links to the mirrored choreo videos for the demo, soprano, alto, and baritone tracks.

  • All attendance records on the attendance overview are up-to-date and available to view here. If your “Total Absent” count is negative, that is because you have attended at least one optional rehearsal AND have missed no regular rehearsals (way to go!).

HSC Community Partnerships - FINAL WEEK

We’re continuing our first community partnership of the season with Oak Forest Foster Closet! 💜

We’re collecting ethnic hair care products to help make sure the children and young adults served by OFFC have access to products made for their hair. That includes bonnets, durags, satin pillowcases, detangling brushes, combs, hair products, and more.

You can shop directly from our Amazon Wishlist using the QR code on the flyer or by following this link, or bring donations to rehearsal this week! I’m still adding items to the wishlist, so you may see new products pop up as we go.

This is something small we can do that can make a very real difference for kids in foster care, and I’d love for HSC to show up for them. ❤️

If you’d like to learn more about Oak Forest Foster Closet or volunteer with them, visit OakForestFosterCloset.org. They offer volunteer opportunities, including helping at the closet, and it’s another great way to support the work they’re doing for foster families in our community.

How to Donate to HSC Without Even Trying!

Every time when I am at rehearsal, people come up to me and ask, "David, how can I contribute to HSC even more?" Okay, nobody has come up to me ask that, but I fantasize that someone will because it's so easy! On the HSC site, under the Support tab at the top right, click on Shopping Programs. The link is https://houstonshowchoir.org/shop-to-help.

Artistic Director’s Digest

Hi all!

Just one more month until crunch time! We’re in a good place, but please make sure you’re reviewing your trouble spots and working toward having most of the numbers memorized.

I’ve included potential rehearsal times for each number, but keep in mind that these may change as we go. Alana and I will be evaluating what needs extra attention, cleaning things up, and making adjustments along the way.

We have two rehearsals this week, with Wednesday being a TIP/HTS rehearsal. If you’re HSC only and would like to come in and practice on Wednesday, feel free to post in the Facebook group to see if others want to join you. I’ll count it as a rehearsal and allow it to replace an absence.

Also, remember that you’re welcome to show up in costume on Monday!

Looking forward to seeing everyone then!

Jennifer

Dream BIG with the Executive Directors!

Hello there, Choirmates!

It's been a minute since we wrote, and things in HSC Land have been really hopping! We hope you're enjoying this season as much as we are, and it's about to become even more fun.

On Monday, we will have trick-or-treating available for everyone to kick off the Halloween season. We had planned originally to have this on Wednesday; however, with the need to rehearse a couple of ensembles plus Cabaret numbers, we shifted gears to maximize our fun time.

Speaking of Cabaret, eighteen of your choirmates will hit the stage at Ovations this coming Friday night, and the house is nearly sold out! In addition to fabulous singing, we will also hold our popular silent auction. If you donated items for this, thank you so much. Sunny and her team do a fabulous job of turning the green room at Ovations into a small department store, thanks to your generosity and their creativity.

To support our Cabaret event, we still need a handful of volunteers to handle such matters as pre-show setup, arranging tables and chairs, setting the tables, greeting and showing patrons to their seats, filling and replenishing snack bowls, and of course, striking the set when it's all over. Naturally, all of us who are there will be promoting our End-of-Season show! We have access to Ovations as early as 5:00 PM, so if you can be there that early or a bit later, please send us an email (exec@houstonshowchoir.org) so we can know to expect your needed assistance. Volunteers are able to see the show free of charge! Thank you in advance.

Until we see you again on Monday, enjoy this gorgeous fall weekend as we continue to

Share the joy,

Mark & Van
