We are in the final stretch: we are approaching the 3rd rehearsal Wednesday, the Poppin’ Popcorn Fundraiser (PPF) is coming to an end, and I am sure that you would love for this to be my last message on this topic to you.
Three of you have set up a payment plan (thank you for that communication), which leaves 17 of you who could be scrambling to pay by Weds if you have not raised funds in PPF. For ease of payment, I’ve resent your invoices to you, or you can pay your dues via the Zelle code in this column. Thank you for your payment, it will remove a stressor (that would be me) from your life!
I am happy to discuss further if you would like, just send an email to treasurer@houstonshowchoir.org. (Note: I won’t be at rehearsal this Weds due to work, sorry). Thank you for making the HSC great!

Dream BIG with the Executive Directors!
Hello, Choirmates!
No matter what the weather might be doing, nothing signals the end of summer / beginning of fall quite like the Labor Day holiday weekend. Labor Day, falling on the first Monday of September every year, is a legal federal holiday in the United States and Canada honoring the achievements and contributions of workers. The holiday began during the Industrial Revolution of the late 1800s, when workers faced unsafe conditions, long hours, and low pay. The first Labor Day parade was held on September 5, 1882, when about 10,000 workers marched in New York City to demand better conditions. On June 28, 1884, President Grover Cleveland signed the federal holiday into law following a major railroad strike in Chicago.
Whether you're a worker or retired, whether you celebrate Labor Day with a cookout, a pool party, just being lazy, or maybe even working, enjoy yourself this coming Monday because Houston Show Choir has Monday night off! Instead, this week we will be rehearsing on Wednesday night beginning at 6:30--except for Encore, which will resume on Monday the 14th.
Also remember that this coming week is our third rehearsal, which means that dues are due--or a conversation with David about your payment plan is due.
In addition, there are still some of you who have not made it into the HSC Facebook group(s), so please send a friend request to VAN ENGLISH and he will add you. Remember that Facebook is the main way we communicate with the membership between newsletters--and you don't want to miss a thing!
Speaking of the newsletter, thank you for reading this and every edition word for word, making notes and marking your calendars as needed.
We are so glad you chose to be a part of Houston Show Choir; now let's have a fantastic fall season!
Sharing the joy,
Mark & Van

When you are going to be absent, you need to notify your Section Leader and Artistic Director.
