Artistic Director Digest

Hello Choir Fam,

We are a month in! Thank you for all your work thus far. A few items to have on your radar:

St. Thomas Gig (Oct. 2nd, 7pm call time)

Thank you to everyone who has signed up! It looks like we will primarily have members of HSC/TIP. Our clientele really wants the show choir experience, so we are including choreography wherever possible! This gig will require a couple of extra rehearsals since we are pulling from last season as well. I will be emailing participants in the coming week. Thank you so much to those who signed up!

Tentative Set List

  • Bridge Over Troubled Water

  • Somebody to Love

  • We Are Family

  • Why We Sing (if time allows)

  • Holding Out for a Hero

  • Love Changes Everything (if time allows)

  • Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

  • Fight Song

Cabaret is Coming Up!

The theme for this year’s Cabaret is… drum roll… Miscast: Broadway Recast!

Think of it as Broadway gone rogue. Roles, genders, and voice types don’t matter here. If you love it, you sing it.

Here are some things we are looking for:

  • Gender-swapped songs (guys singing Defying Gravity, girls singing If I Were a Rich Man, or Cynthia Erivo playing Jesus).

  • Age/character flips (a teen doing I’m Still Here, an adult doing Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now).

  • Vocal type flips (a soprano belting Stars from Les Misérables).

Cabaret Timeline

See you all soon and thank you for the music!

Jennifer

Dream BIG with the Executive Directors!

Greetings, Choirmates!

Is it just imagination, or is it beginning to feel a little like fall?!

Weatherwise, it's always a lovely day in HSC Land, with all the fun and festive and meaningful opportunities we have.

We offer a special thanks to those who have been able to answer the call to sing for Mark's mom during her services next week, and especially to those able to attend the extra rehearsals. The way we step up to support each other is such a beautiful part of HSC culture.

Thanks also to everyone who dined on Chipotle this past Thursday! We look forward to reporting a nice profit from that effortless enterprise. Thanks, Sunita for making it happen!
