Important Dates

Note: This section does NOT include rehearsal details; those are located in the Rehearsal Details section below.

  • Join us at Tumble22 (Houston Ave Location) on Tuesday, October 14, for Spirit Night, where 22% of the WHOLE restaurant sales from 4:30-8:30pm will go back to the choir! Last time we raised more than $700!

We will sing at 6:45pm for the patrons and eat dinner together as a choir. If you cannot come at that time, do not worry! Order and eat anytime between 4:30-8:30pm.

  • The theme for this year’s holiday cabaret is “Miscast: Broadway Recast!

Think of it as Broadway gone rogue. Roles, genders, and voice types don’t matter here. If you love it, you sing it.

Submit a video of your full song using this form by Saturday, October 18. See the graphic below for a list of important dates for the cabaret.

  • Our annual Mattress Sale fundraiser will be held at James E Taylor High School (20700 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77450) on Saturday, November 08. For every mattress, pillow, sheet set etc. sold, the choir will get a percentage of the proceeds. You'll be able to test the mattresses at this event but you don't have to be there in-person to place an order (which means even family and friends out-of-state can participate!). Financing is available. Our contact Chris will come talk to the choir about this event during rehearsal on Monday October 13, and he can answer all your questions!

A Word from Katie: Farewell For Now

Hello HSC Family,

I just wanted to let you know that I have to step down from my board position as Marketing Director. I have enjoyed making videos and graphics for HSC, and helping support the choir in this way. This season I have a second job and life just got way too complex in the last few months for me to be able to do all the things. Thank you so much for supporting me in this role, and I look forward to seeing you all in the show!

Sincerely,

Katie Norris

HSC Board Position Opening

Hello HSC!

While we hope that Katie returns to us soon, we do find ourselves needing a new Director of Marketing. The appointed person would finish out the current term, ending in June of 2026.  If you are at all interested in filling this role, I’d like to invite you to please review and complete the interest form located here.

If you would like to discuss what being a board member is all about, please feel free to reach out.  I’d be more than happy to answer any questions or alleviate any concerns.

Always,

Genevieve Legris

Artistic Director’s Digest

Hello Choir Fam,

You all are making such great sounds! From here on out, rehearsal attendance is crucial—please make every effort to be there so we can give our audience the show they deserve. Thank you to all amazing singers and an extra shoutout to those of you also working behind the scenes to help us deliver our best.

Here are a few notes from Monday’s rehearsal. Feel free to email me anytime this week if you notice things we could improve.

Rehearsal Notes

Dream BIG with the Executive Directors!

Happy Autumn, Choirmates!

Finally, it feels right to say that authentically, with this morning’s welcome drop in temperature!

Speaking of being authentic, today—October 11—is National Coming Out Day. Founded in 1988 by lesbian activist Jean O’Leary and gay psychologist / author Rob Eichberg (Coming Out: An Act of Love), this day is set aside annually to celebrate and recognize the personal power that derives when people are honest about themselves and share that honesty with the rest of the world. The date was chosen in recognition of the second March on Washington for LGBTQ+ rights, held on October 11, 1987. So today, as we enjoy all the loveliness of a more temperate Houston, let us also acknowledge and honor our HSC members who identify as LGBTQ+, as well as their allies.

And what a week we have ahead of us, with Cabaret and End-of-Season show tickets going on sale and our full-choir rehearsal on Monday, a fabulous Spirit Night at Tumble 22 on Tuesday, and solo/standalone auditions due on Saturday. These are exciting times for sure!

And now, please add these reminders or action items to your calendar as appropriate, along with other important dates mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter:

  • November 22: Holiday Cabaret at Ovations! (Optional participation.)

  • December 8, 10, and 12: MANDATORY Tech Week Rehearsals

  • December 13: SHOW DAY! Two performances, 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM @ Resurrection!

Our June 2026 trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida is in full swing. We are still accepting registrations, no upfront payment required. Remember that we need 40 singers on stage at Universal in order to perform on the mainstage, so please sign up! Here is the link to register:

  • Click the green text in the top section of the screen that says: "Customer Login"

  • Next you will be prompted to enter your trip code which is: houston26

  • On the next screen you should choose the option to "Access Account" and then you will be prompted to create an account using your email address or your personal Google account.

  • If you have previously created an account with ETA, you may sign into your existing account to make a reservation and you will not need to create a new account.

  • Once you are into your account, select Add a New Trip, and then enter houston26.

  • You should see your trip details at that point, and then select Make a New Reservation and complete ALL fields.

  • We are still accepting registrations! You can pay your deposit later; however, if you know you are planning to go on this trip, please register as soon as possible. Remember:  We need 40 singers in order to perform on stage at Universal!

That’s all for now, so enjoy the rest of your weekend and we will see you Monday night at 6:30!

Sharing the joy,
